Is Art Important?

I would love to hear your responses to a couple simple questions.  I will compile all the answers I get.  Is art important?  If so why, if not why not?

Art is the heartbeat of our soul, it is the outward expression of our inward thoughts and feelings...without it, we have no tangible way of expressing who we are and what we think and feel. A life without art is like a life without expression and color. Art is an essential part of our humanity.

For me, Art is one contact to soul inside. An inner room whit its expression to my world. While painting I can forget/transform time and stress, fear and anger... Life is so wonderful with art.

Yes art is important! It is a way to express onself and share it with others...and for others to connect with it. It's where we all connect.

To me art makes the invisible visible. There are some emotions or nuances of emotions that have no words to describe them, art shows these through very subtle movement of a line or colour - also a universal language for those with sight, or touch, if sculpture - soothing, grounding, connecting us all in an elemental way with each other, all of life, spirit, soul and the earth...

I really like that "art makes the invisible visible"...I have said that about dream art (artwork inspired by dreams in the night)...there are things that we have no words for, but images and feelings and colors etc etc. Art, especially sculpture, makes me feel connected to all that is.
